I’ve spent the last fifteen years navigating a media career in New York City. In other words, I’m a glutton for punishment.
If we're getting Freudian you could say my editorial “root” was a 2008 internship with Condé Nast at a now-archival title. We love reference material! I then found a passion for blogging while assisting an interior designer in Charlottesville, Virginia, and followed that to New York City where I landed my first real media job at the also now-archival Lonny magazine. (Everyone in media's accidental side hustle: archivist.)
From there I bounced to Jonathan Adler to manage copy and content, then served as Refinery29’s founding home editor. I went freelance, launched my own media brand, contributed to and consulted for others, scaled, folded, spent a year art directing the relaunch of Out magazine, quarantined, then joined ELLE Decor as Deputy Editor in 2021, working under Editor-in-Chief Asad Syrkett.
A company-wide restructuring saw me archiving that role (bada bum) and I now host the podcast Gay Genius and write a Substack called Fussy. Phew!
